Energy independence equals not only prosperity but national security. Capitalism dictates that failing business are allowed to fail, but people are worried that too many jobs will be lost if the auto makers go belly up and close factories nation wide. Well what if we let the auto makers go out of business, I mean it’s their own fault they’re in this mess, spending money on lobbyist to get politicians to drag their feet on energy regulations instead of spending it on R.N.D for more fuel effective cars and trucks that people would actually buy was not the best business plan. But instead of closing the factories putting a very large number of Americans out of work…what if the government offered incentives to new energy companies to buy the existing auto factories and convert them into turbine factories? I mean some new equipment would be needed, and some new training could be needed too but by and large manufacturing is manufacturing. Instead of cars and trucks the same factories and the same work force in the same towns could be putting out the solar panels and wind turbines needed to push us into the foreground of the coming energy revolution.
