Rob M asked:
Obama’s latest ads suggest that he’ll create 5 million jobs with a push for green energy. Is he somehow suggesting that factory workers and college kids and the uneducated (the bulk of the unemployed in the US) are going to become green engineers working on thin film solar technology and bio fuels?
Why do all of “top contributors” seem totally clueless? Too much time on Yahoo and not enough seeking facts I guess.
Too bad Obama doesn’t plan on doing anything about OIL, which we’ll need for at least 10 years. Another one of Obama’s “sounds good on paper” programs to fool the nation’s clueless.

gary g asked: Why are all three presidential candidates promising to bring fuel prices down and at the same time promising to bring CO2 emissions down? If fuel is cheaper, we will use more fuel and CO2 emissions will go up. If fuel prices are high, we will use less fuel and CO2 emissions will go down. How can they possibly be pandering to both sides of this issue at the same time.
Green energy hasn’t been invented, yet they are promising to create millions of new “green jobs”.At best, solar and wind energy will only account for 10 percent of electrical energy and none of transportation energy. Ethanol turned out to be a disaster because it brought about food shortages and drove the price of food up. The democrats are opposed to nuclear energy and drilling for fuel in the ocean. All three of them are opposed to drilling for oil in Alaska.
I am talking about the short term plan for the next four years.

I do Believe John McCain working together with Sarah Palin and Cindy McCain will be able to turn this thing around—-and here’s why: John desires to drill here—-drill now—and refine–(JOBS)-that’s not the solution for long term but any and all helps—then he wishes to encourage the development of new technological breakthroughs in energy alternatives (JOBS)—-he wishes to harvest the oil from shale (JOBS)—he wishes to harvest our natural gas which is abundant (JOBS)—it is his desire to Utilize and develop ‘clean-coal-technology’—a great resource.(JOBS)—-he wishes to harvest our own vast resources of chemicals that we have been buying from abroad—and refine it (Massive JOBS_—he desires to use solar and wind resources as energy alternatives (JOBS)—he would like to see more nuclear reactors built to provide clean affordable electricity that will be needed to supply our needs. (JOBS)—–now all these jobs mean more people able to obtain good-paying jobs instead os sinking in despair.—-That’s a whole lot of money that is staying here in America instead of going overseas that will get pumped into massive job growth—-creating a broader tax base to ease the tax burden.—-Sarah Palin loves our country and will help in every way possible to make things better for us! McCain claimed that Obama’s health care plan would “force small businesses to cut jobs” and would put “a bureaucrat … between you and your doctor.” In fact, the plan exempts small businesses, and those who have insurance now could keep the coverage they have.
* McCain attacked Obama for voting for “corporate welfare” for oil companies. In fact, the bill Obama voted for raised taxes on oil companies by $300 million over 11 years while providing $5.8 billion in subsidies for renewable energy, energy efficiency and alternative fuels.
* McCain said oil imports send “$700 billion a year to countries that don’t like us very much.” But the U.S. is on track to import a total of only $536 billion worth of oil at current prices, and close to a third of that comes from Canada, Mexico and the United Kingdom.
* He promised to increase use of “wind, tide [and] solar” energy, though his actual energy plan contains no new money for renewable energy. He has said elsewhere that renewable sources won’t produce as much as people think.
* He called for “reducing government spending and getting rid of failed programs,” but as in the past failed to cite a single program that he would eliminate or reduce.
* He said Obama would “close” markets to trade. In fact, Obama, though he once said he wanted to “renegotiate” the North American Free Trade Agreement, now says he simply wants to try to strengthen environmental and labor provisions in it.
* Palin may have said “Thanks, but no thanks” on the Bridge to Nowhere, though not until Congress had pretty much killed it already. But that was a sharp turnaround from the position she took during her gubernatorial campaign, and the town where she was mayor received lots of earmarks during her tenure.
* Palin’s accusation that Obama hasn’t authored “a single major law or even a reform” in the U.S. Senate or the Illinois Senate is simply not a fair assessment. Obama has helped push through major ethics reforms in both bodies, for example.
* The Alaska governor avoided some of McCain’s false claims about Obama’s tax program – but her attacks still failed to give the whole story.
* Giuliani distorted the time line and substance of Obama’s statements about the conflict between Russia and Georgia. In fact, there was much less difference between his statements and those of McCain than Giuliani would have had us believe.
* Giuliani also said McCain had been a fighter pilot. Actually, McCain’s plane was the A-4 Skyhawk, a small bomber. It was the only plane he trained in or flew in combat, according to McCain’s own memoir.
* Finally, Huckabee told conventioneers and TV viewers that Palin got more votes when she ran for mayor of Wasilla than Biden did running for president. Not even close. The tally: Biden, 79,754, despite withdrawing from the race after the Iowa caucuses. Palin, 909 in her 1999 race, 651 in 1996.

? Londonstani ? asked: Stem cells-The embryos are already aborted! Why not put them to good use, like helping people that have serious problems.
Global warming-It is a natural occurrence, but it has sped up significantly since industrialization.
Evolution-I understand that many are religious, but evolution can be in conjunction with your beliefs. Why do you think viruses become resistant to treatment (like we are seeing with the flu this season)? They evolve.
Nonrenewable resources-Do you really think oil will be around forever? What’s so wrong with a little bit of solar energy, putting up some windmills, perhaps using ethanol…? We can save our planet, create new jobs and secure the futures of generations to come.

I’m liberal and I LOVE the space programs too. I think we should create programs to help the homeless (or at least reinvest in the ones we have now), but I don’t think the money should be taken from NASA. I don’t believe any of us do. If there are some out there who believe that then ***** THEM!
