Years ago we sailed millions of tons with wind energy, so why can’t we use wind & solar power?

The world lived at a slower pace back then, but the clipper=ship hull moved quickly, it carried less, so it’s cargo was more in demand and time sensitive. The point is, we moved great weight, and used more hands on equipment. wind generation linked with solar requires more hands on, in as much that it requires constant and frequent maintenance and operational monitoring. Build wind generation plants that double as job opportunity, heck we could build fences around it and use prison inmate labor. Put them out in the wind-swept deserts, or offshore ships, platforms, and islands. How about a dynamo driven off a wound spring and speed governor, the old victrollers worked fine for years, and still work that played our old 78’s Imagine a building sized one, all wound by hand, a real work-out that would all but eliminate obesity of our society. We used to grind cane the same way

Careers in Renewable Energy?
Filed Under Green Living | 2 Comments
How does someone get into a career working with renewable energy? A technician or similar job working with wind or solar would be something I’d be very interested in. I’m a year away from completing my Associate’s in electronics and electrical control systems. This is something I feel I could be very passionate about and enjoy doing.

looking for the best/easiest way to produce renewable energy for small appliances and lighting on low budget?
Filed Under Green Living | 4 Comments
ive been looking for ways to produce my own energy and so far most methods seem very complex - being creating solar panels to wind turbines. the best way i’ve seen so far, for me personally, is the bike power generating method. at the moment this method seems a little to expensive but may be something i look to in the near future. i dont mind doing the work though, im not looking for a maintenance free method….just something that gets the job done. if possible i’d really like to be able to store the energy in batteries. so basically im looking to power 3 small lamps, a guitar amp, and perhaps an xbox or television if possible. if any other info is needed feel free to email me or i will add the info to the question.
thanks

Renewable Energy?

If you wanted to start a career designing and working with renewable energy like solar, wind, hydroelectric ect., what would your job title be?
If I were to start a career studying renewable energy specifically solar and trying to improve on it in the world, what would my occupation title be?
I dont want to work as the person actually buiding it, I want to be the person that figures out how the energy works. I want to work basically with all energy types but want to work on find the best way to store and produce energy. More lik a scientist wrather than an engineer.
